Community High School

From Dale Leslie: $25,000 in Scholarships; Community HS a Recipient

Twenty-five recipients received $1,000 each for college.

Congratulations to everyone—and thanks to the Kiwanis club!

Here’s the press release:

Through the philanthropy of the Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor and one of its members, Ray Cross, the club awarded $25,000 in college scholarships to local high school seniors at its weekly meeting May 22nd. It is thought to be one of the largest single-day scholarship gifts to Ann Arbor Public School students.

Sixteen of the awards were matching gifts from the Ray and Eleanor Cross Foundation. Mr. Cross, a retired business owner and 40-plus year member of the club, matched each $500 gift to the Kiwanis Scholarship Fund by club members and friends. The Cross Foundation also funded two, $1,000 college scholarships.
