The Community Resources Program, administered by Community High School, lets students take classes in a variety of community settings for high school and college credit. The program utilizes local businesses and professionals to provide a real-world education. Many courses are proposed and designed by students.
The University of Michigan and Washtenaw Community College, research companies, health care and community service groups are all potential places for students to take a CR. The Program also offers students great flexibility in designing and teaching their own classes.
Any Ann Arbor secondary student may earn high school credit by taking a community resource course. Courses are held at various locations through the Ann Arbor area and may be scheduled at times convenient to the instructor and student. These courses are “contracted studies” monitored by certified teachers, and are credited toward graduation requirements in the appropriate field areas.
You can learn subjects that aren’t in the traditional curriculum (including college classes), explore career options, or do community service.
